A Masterful Succulent Living Wall by Lindsey Graves
Lindsey Graves of Living Green Design used the Florafelt Pro System to create this living wall installation. Stainless steel grids were mounted to the wall then the water shield is inserted. For this install a custom recirculation system was added to use water from the pond below. Florafelt Grow Strip is then woven in then Florafelt Root Wrapped plants are added.

Install Wire Grids
Wire grids are added attached to the stucco wall using stainless clips and Tapcon concrete screws.
Insert Water Shield
Water shields are inserted from the top. The sides are folded inward so they will fit inside the wire grid cage. Shields are carefully lowered down to create a waterproof barrier. Once in place the sides are folded outward to lock them in place.
Irrigation Tubing
Irrigation tubing is attached to the top of the grid using zip ties. For this recirculating system, 3/8″ holes are drilled into the tubing. One is located above each grid column.
Water Pump
The pond below will act as a water reservoir. Water will be recirculated using the pump below. A timer is located behind the wall. A hole behind the system is large enough to fit the submersible water pump’s 3-prong cord.
Weave in Grow Felt
Florafelt Grow strip is woven into the grid using our patented pleated method. A 5-inch depth guide is used to make pocket depths consistent.
Ready to Plant
The Florafelt Pro System is ready to plant.
Add Plants
Plants wrapped in Florafelt Root Wraps are added to the pockets to create a beautifully orchestrated design.
Create an Experience
Moss was added to fill in around the beautiful succulent design. Telanzias were also included to add texture and interest.
This masterful design provides a unique experience for guests at the front entrance of this foggy Pacific Heights residence.
Succulents do best in temperate coastal areas. They do well in dry conditions with part sun and even shady areas. They mix well with bromeliads that also like dry roots. Use of bark in the wraps can help control over watering which is optimal for this situation.
